Just in case you are having problems this is a guide to the system.

Remember, 75% of the time it will be the inverter 15% of the time it will be the backlight or cable, but it may be the motherboard or other fault, Ie. bad soldering at the motherboard, blown fuse etc.

Of course always worth a check???? seen them go. there is a little switch that switches the lcd off, backlight off when the lid is closed, are you sure it isnt faulty or stuck down?
